Los Vasallos del Sol is a drum and dance group that exquisitely
represents Venezuela 's diverse musical and cultural heritage.
Their repertoire covers Venezuela’s coastal musical legacy,
from its indigenous and African roots to contemporary popular
music. We expect the concert to be very well attended so please
get there early.
At the panel discussion members of the group will give
a brief drumming presentation and talk about the African, Native
American, and Hispanic musical heritage of Venezuela, as well
as address Venezuela’s new cultural policies that foster and
promote a diverse vision of its people. We welcome all musicians,
artists, and the public in general to benefit from this opportunity
to meet and exchange ideas.
A last minute addition to the activities of this Venezuelan
dance group during their two-day visit in Houston is a Dance
Workshop to be held at the Danmar Dance Studio. This workshop
is open to the general public and is free. Dancers and musicians
are especially welcome. The Danmar Dance Studio is located on
166 Applewhite Dr. Katy, TX 77450. The Studio’s telephone is
281-392-1150. This is a bit far (in Katy) so try to carpool.
